    IF YOU DO NOT HAVE THE CROSS BARS, DO NOT BUY THIS KIT I bought this kit because it said that it could attach without the cross bars. That was a lie. So now I have a useless basket until the cross bars show up. Which I needed the basket tomorrow. And now it’s a week waiting longer than I math’d for. ***EDITED TO ADD*** I’ve been using the roof rack for several weeks now. It’s very much worth buying crossbars to use it. Super sturdy and worth the purchase. Just wish they had been honest about the need for cross bars

    Assembly instructions not the best but take your time, easy enough to figure out. Only extra I did was to coat the bottom brackets with some rubber shelf padding. I don't like these hit the roof of the car and potentially scratching it. The manufacturer should consider having them pre coated. All parts were in the box and they even threw in a few extra washers. Kayak(s) fit well. Straps hold very well. I just got done putting them together so, I loaded it up and took a drive. Purposely swerved back and forth on the road to try and shake the kayak loose. They didn't budge. I researched many racks and didn't find too many differences between these and others twice their price. These are going to be just fine for my local kayak trips.

    Had j-racks previously that did not fold & I keepmy car in garage so had to assemble each time I wanted to transport 2 kayaks- these folding ones are awesome because I can leave on & park in garage after folding them. The only difficult part was the metal plate that goes on your car rack was outside of the rubber protecting guard & had to be reoved and reasembled with plate inside the rubber. Was very difficult to get screw off & back on. Other than that...perfect! Haven't used yet so will review sturdiness after I use them.

    I have not hauled kayaks yet on my car but will do so this weekend. I will have to purchase straps as the straps that came with the racks will not work to secure kayaks safely as was noted by another consumer. My son installed them and did so quite easily. I am not a real strong person but can position them easily.
